WHY oh WHY...........

So many people want to know why you decide to homestead. Some even think what the heck. I know that for my husband and I, we have thrown the idea around for more than 5 years. We have been too afraid to just go for it. Among other reasons like having the money to get started. We have learned that although we do need money to get started, if we wait to have everything ready it will never happen because something always comes up. So we have set a tentative plan. We are aiming for a move date to be around March of 2017. FIRST we do not want to move in the winter. We believe it is in our best interest to move the very beginning of the spring in that area. This way what ever loose ends we need to finish can be done before the cold winter months.
Now lets get to the WHY........I have a list that we came up with when we were making a pros and cons list.
-less expenses
-no hustle and bustle
-we love animals
-we love the country and mountains
-we are very interested In being self sufficient
-learning to live off the land
-no more life sucking electronics ;)
-we like the idea of our children growing up with more freedom to explore
-growing our own food
-building our own home
This is just the beginning list, and there is so much more that will come our way and we will have to learn. That's what is exciting for us both. We love to try new thing, and learn new things. We can work at our own pace. We have given ourselves enough time to work our land and home at a pace that wont stress us out.

The Poop Tank -a priority

As much as I would like to dump everyday using a portable pot :) I think I would really like to have a septic tank. Cost and how we plan to install ourselves or hire someone coming up next!!

Our Homestead Begins

We have 5 acres with water. The property is fenced on 3 sides. It has on access road along the curved side. The planning begins. At this moment, we have decided that we want to get water to property first, get the land ready for a shed, septic tank, and then our home. We are wanting shelter in place before we move and not have to but temporary shelter at this time.
We are beginners :) so we will document our trial, and errors, and our success. We have paper planned this homestead idea for many years. We are finally going to take the jump and do what we want. We would like to live a simpler life, and get out of the city life. Follow us as we begin this journey. Helpful tutorials, reviews, ideas, and anything that comes our way during this adventure.
